Welcome to ISARA, a school of engineering specializing in agronomy, agri-food, and sustainable development. Located in the heart of the Gerland Biopôle, a center of excellence in life sciences and biotechnology, the Lyon campus is a place where innovation, passion, and the talents of tomorrow are cultivated.
Located on the Agrapole site, the campus brings together more than 40 professional agricultural and agri-food organizations from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
On this site, unique in France, a thousand students, teachers, and speakers come together every day in an ecosystem where knowledge, innovation, and a passion for life intertwine.
The ISARA Lyon campus provides students with state-of-the-art technological and scientific equipment:
A documentation and digital monitoring center (e-books, databases, electronic journals)
And numerous student living spaces that promote interaction and creativity.
The school also offers a comprehensive digital infrastructure:
At ISARA, every detail is designed to promote success, independence, and innovation.
We have three lecture halls that can accommodate up to 600 people during full-enrollment courses. Conferences are also organized throughout the year on topics specific to the school.
La Source: a space for inspiration and exchange
La Source is much more than a documentation center. It is a lively and dynamic place, designed to meet the needs of students, teachers, researchers, and professionals in the agri-food sector.
This center offers a rich collection of resources (books, journals, specialized databases, e-books, etc.), accessible on site or remotely. The librarians assist students with their research and help them develop their information skills.
Completely renovated in 2019, La Source offers modular spaces for individual or collaborative work, training, and events, thereby promoting innovation and creativity.
A 600 m² mini food processing plant
Our food technology hall is a veritable laboratory of ideas, designed to meet the ambitions of future engineers. This unique facility allows for the design, testing, and pre-production of food products, giving students the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice in real-world innovation conditions.
Laboratories dedicated to innovation in agri-food and agroecology
ISARA has seven specialized laboratories dedicated to eco-design, the study and analysis of food products, as well as an agroecology laboratory dedicated to the analysis of agroecological practices and sustainable agricultural systems.
ISARA offers students a practical and immersive learning environment, enabling them to understand all the stages involved in developing an agri-food project: sampling, prototyping, up-scaling, sensory validation, industrial deployment, and physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses.
Thanks to this scientific and technical expertise, ISARA enables students to develop solid and practical skills, allowing them to imagine and design innovative and sustainable solutions in line with the current challenges facing agriculture and food production.
At ISARA, students have access to four group work rooms equipped with mobile whiteboards and touchscreens connected to the internet, ideal for teamwork. Semi-open acoustic booths provide a quiet space with electrical outlets for concentration or discussion.
A multipurpose workshop completes these spaces: it can host events, creativity sessions, or meetings, with bleachers, adjustable stools, and a touchscreen connected to the internet. These facilities allow students to collaborate, innovate, and bring their projects to life in an inspiring setting.
Lyon now has 180,000 students spread across four universities and 54 higher education institutions in the Lyon metropolitan area.
