FOOD & FEED FOR THE FUTURE

1st of September 2023, at Isara, Lyon

A workshop sponsored by the OECD Co-operative Research Programme: Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems.

The world is facing unprecedented challenges: climate change, population growth, and dietary shifts are putting pressure on our natural resources and food security. How can we feed the planet with enough protein without compromising the environment, human health and the future of farmers?

This is the question that will be addressed by leading scientists and experts at a workshop organized by INRAE, CSIRO, Isara, and AFZ, and supported by the OECD Co-operative Research Program “Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems”.

How will the global need for protein be met combining ethical and sustainable agriculture with microbial bioproduction?

What are the modern nutritional approaches to healthy production of animal and human diets in a resource-and carbon-constrained world?

What are the socio-economic issues of future sustainable agricultural systems?

How to address the ethical/societal acceptation challenge of food and feed microbial/tissue bioproduction?

The workshop will showcase the latest scientific and technological innovations that can help transform our agricultural systems into more sustainable and resilient ones.

The workshop will cover topics such as plant-based protein sources, animal feed efficiency, alternative protein production methods, and the ethical and societal implications of these new technologies.

This workshop targets all stakeholders who aim at understanding and forecasting the future of feed and food whether they are potential actors of change or have to deal with the constraints and opportunities generated by such changes.
